Is Lai Lung Kham a really folk dance or is it created by someone?
This dance form is performed in every Ahom related functions, many scholars believed that it is a "Deo loga nach" ( emerging trance through dance) cuz according to them Ahoms are called the spirit possessed people.I heard it many times 🙂
láai means martial arts, lung means great, khám means gold or golden martial arts (you can make out any meaning but basically it is martial-art dance)... i am currently studying a lot of manuscripts so i will let you know if this exact word lai lung kham is found in ahom manuscript or not but the present dance that is being sold as lai lung kham is 100% completely made up by neo-ahoms.... you can check real tai martial art dances here
