Upper Assam and House and Future Disaster incoming !!

I was thinking about  Tai houses and I like your Article .The flood heavily destroyed a large amount of houses , RCC houses did not survive either. Tai houses are really good for such disaster and "I wonder when our people stopped building such houses"  ! Since they still make granary house high! 🥲

as already described in the article, the word chang ghar comes from tai word rérn tsân which means house with floor or multi-storeyed house.. they are not an indigenous creation of mising community as many think but rather misings took it from the tai people as for why people stopped constructing them, simple because they came to be associated with misings and other poor tribals.. so the wannabe caste-hindu ahoms who had already set the bengali concrete architecture as the standard no longer found any incentive to construct such houses...

morever traditional carpenters (changmais) also became jobless once the royals started favouring bengali-style buildings over traditional wood architecture of the tai people.. so you can say an entire industry got wiped out because of the whims of ahom emperors and the common ahom people followed soon..
