This are rare photographs of the renowned Shan martial arts masters— U Maung Lay and Daw Aye Shwe —who taught and propagated the "Khu Kar Chan" (reverse-style) martial art in Myanmar.

In 1916, he became the youngest student of Saya Che, a bodyguard to the Shan Sawbwa who had traveled from northern Shan State and created his own reversed style Thaing Byaung Byan derived from traditional unarmed Shan Martial Arts

Their birthplace is Nam Hkam village in Nam Lan, Shan State.
